Student Expectations

The completion of assignments to a high quality level is expected and will be emphasized in all classes.  All Kulshan writing standards must be applied to written work, including standard heading, final drafts in ink or typed, and no convention errors.  Students may be offered opportunities to improve assignments that fail to meet standards (with prior agreement between teacher and student).

Homework is a regular part of the eighth grade curriculum and should be expected on most days. It will include reading, research, and completion of assignments and a variety of other activities. You are encouraged to establish a regular time and place to complete homework. The district homework policy suggests approximately 80 minutes per night on average for an 8th grade student. Should you not have a regular assignment, you are encouraged to work on your independent reading goal.

All assignments must be completed prior to class on the due date assigned by the teacher. Work is considered late if it is not complete when class begins.  Late assignments must be completed within one week of their due dates and will receive only partial credit.

When you are absent check your assignment hand out sheets so you are current on your class work.  If you need assignments contact your teachers for assignments so that you do not get behind. It is your responsibility to make up all missed work on a timeline established by you and your teachers.  Absences are not an excuse for missing work.
