Washington State History: Chapter 3: Native People of the Pacific Northwest Compare and Constrast the way of life of the Native People's of the Pacific Northwest
Objectives:
- Read the chapter to compare the Coastal Indians to the Plateau Indians.
- Collect notes from the chapter for each category in the graphic organizer.
- Explain why geography affected the way of life of the Coastal and Plateau Indians.
- Write a comparison and a constrast paragraph about the two Native groups.
- Follow the writing process to create an answer to an extended response to a question using R.A.V.E. with accurate information from the chapter.

Where in Washington...Great Washington Site
This project has three parts. In Part 1 students will develop a background knowledge about geography and research skills focused around a research question by learning about Bellingham. Students will use the research tools, resources, graphic organizers and develop a concept of geography. Part 2 will be to research a location in the state and prepare a Where in Washington presentation. With the help of the district's technology department and current equipment, students may have opportunity to video conference Where is Washington challenging Mr. Beymer's students. Mrs. Hiller is also investigating a video conference with another 7th grade classroom at either or both Fairhaven and Shuksan as Part 3.
